On the 24th July this year, Darren and Dave Evans are setting off, from near London, in a 1.2 litre Fiesta with no support or back up, on an epic adventure. The goal is Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia, 4 weeks and 10,000 miles later....... We're Team 'Keep Khan and Carry On' and we're going on the Mongol Rally!! ........A third of the way around the earth, from Europe to Mongolia via a plethora of countries most people haven't heard of in a car that has an engine big enough to power a nippy lawn mower! Starting from London, the rally finishes in the Mongolian capital Ulaan Baatar a whole heap of adventure later. This is exactly that, an adventure, not a cosy guided driving tour, so the world is pretty much our oyster - no set route, no real check points until we arrive and very few home comforts! Imagine us in the middle of the gargantuan Kazakhstan desert, our Fiesta slowly being shredded by a dirt track (which our map says is a motorway) completely lost hundreds of miles from civilisation with no back up crew to rescue us. Just us, our wits, a car that the laws of physics say shouldn't have got us past Germany and a slightly angry looking man with a gun! Bring it on!
Why on earth are we doing this? Well, the Mongol Rally is about adventure, but more importantly, it's also about raising huge sacks of cash for charity. Each team coming on the Rally raises a minimum of £1000 for the Rally charities, but we hope to raise much much more than that! So yes, we will be coming your way for sponsorship!! Check out our website and please please please, give us some cash!!! Dave and Darren Bayannur, MongoliaRecieved by SMS at 18th August 2010 at 16:31
