We were making good progress down M10 yesterday to Moscow then the car decided to put a halt to that by leaking coolant and losing part of the air intake which fell off on the highway, we managed to fix it using beer cans and gaffer tape. This worked for a few hours then the car over heated and cut out so we abandoned ship in a mcdonalds car park and slept in a scratty wooden hut for the second night in a row. This morning when we were kindly taken to a garage by a local where with the help of an English speaking Russian we were able to get the problem fixed... touch wood.

another nights sleep in the car last night. Starting to long for the comfort of the tent, nevermind a bed. Don't know about the rest of st Petersburg but the bits you can see from the road through it are awesome.

Arrived in Finland around 7.00pm local time now making are way to Helsinki. Weather started off sunny and very warm and now we are in the middle of one mother of an electrical storm... Superb.

Spent the evening playing cards in a hotel lobby before a pretty dyer nights sleep in the car in a supermarket car park. Managed to get ferry tickets transferred from previous morning to 7.30am today so we set sail for Finland.@

went out for beers last night with Swedish country band Sannex (check out YouTube they are the real deal). Then we were invited on a drunken tour of the local ice hockey stadium by an equally drunk swede who apparently worked there or who had just nicked some keys. We proceeded to dick about with all the players equipment and sannex who were fans were even given/swiped some memorabilia.
