Managed to make long trip down from Oglii to Altany in two days with strong convoy of a daihatsu and an ambulance, so far micra is fine, although we've lost 5th gear and everything is now caked in dust. Roads are dirt tracks or rocks, landscape becomes more stunning on every turn

Back on the long siberian roads on our way down to the Mongolian border. While I had lunch with another team Tom stocked up on essentials ahead of the Mongolian wilderness which included a dart board, dried salami and a bottle of tabasco sauce - we can't fail!

After some horrific Kazach roads and a night in the wilderness we've made it back into Russia without any hassels. Just headed past Omsk and on the long road through siberia - incredibly it is raining. Any other teams in the area let us know on +447827233798.

Pushing on through the Russian caucuses as we want to make the Kazach border tomorrow. Been battling some horrific Russian roads, just torn tarmac and wild-eyed truckersn the micra is bouncing all over the place but surviving well. Had a great BBQ'ed something on the side of the road to fuel us through the night..

first day in russia has brought us...good volga driving, bureau de change with a man in a bathrobe, mobile gym in the passenger seat, and the angelic presence of a german-speaking visa-accepting petrol station attendant
